O magnum mysterium,
et admirabile sacramentum,
ut animalia viderent Dominum natum,

O great mystery,
and wonderful sacrament,
that animals should see the new-born Lord,
lying in a manger!
Blessed is the Virgin whose womb
was worthy to bear
Christ the Lord.
