Final Update on the Prayer Request

Sorry I didn't update all day today, I haven't been home at all.

Baby Cam passed away last night in his parents' arms. They aren't Catholic, but they had the baby baptized before he died, praise be to God. The doctors apparently said when he was born that there was "a little something in his brain" (to quote my sister), but they said it was nothing to worry about. They had him on some medicine to try to stop the bleeding, but it wasn't working and they wouldn't up the dosage because he was so small.

My cousin and his wife decided not to have a funeral for Baby Cam. They're going to have him cremated and then spread his ashes over their grandparents' graves.

Thank you all so much for praying. My heart is really hurting about this whole situation, and I just can't imagine how his parents feel. Please keep C and A in your prayers.

  1. A new saint in Heaven and one day a reuniting of the family… That is the hope we have in this grief. So very sad. I will pray for the family. God bless and keep them. :(

  2. Oh praise God the parents had him baptized! You can't imagine how great a grace that is for the baby's soul and how MUCH God will bless his loving parents for their generous act. I will keep the whole family in my prayers for many weeks. Thank you for sharing this prayer request with us!

  3. Meanwhile, Saint Baby Cam--get to work buddy! There are unfortunately many, many babies dying in the NICUs around America who parents either don't know or are too grief stricken to get their dear babies baptized. Hoping for a least two babies to get baptized tomorrow in honor of the Feast of the Assumption.

(Found that out in person during my own kid's emergency baptism in the NICU at a Catholic hospital. Neither the Religious Sister nor the hospital priest had been in the NICU floor in many, many years. I was so sad.)

  5. How heartbreaking. Many prayers for this grieving family. Hearing that he was baptized before he died, gave me real, honest-to-goodness chills. A new saint has been born who will no doubt be spending his eternity doing good on earth.
